The 10th Annual Day of The Pumpkin Patch School, themed “Tiny Steps, Timeless Values”, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and grandeur on March 20, 2026, at Vyloppilli Samskrithi Bhavan. The theme beautifully reflects the school’s vision of nurturing young minds and instilling strong values from an early age.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of our Chief Guest, His Highness Prince Aditya Varma, and the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Saraswati Nagarajan, Retired Deputy Chief Editor of The Hindu newspaper.

The programme began on an auspicious note with a prayer, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by His Highness Prince Aditya Varma, the Guest of Honour, the Principal, and the Founders.

The event was enriched by the inspiring words of our esteemed Chief Guest, Prince Aditya Varma, and Guest of Honour, Saraswati Nagarajan.

His Highness Prince Aditya Varma, in his address, emphasized the importance of respecting and preserving one’s mother tongue, highlighting its deep connection to culture and identity. He encouraged children and parents to take pride in their linguistic heritage. He also expressed concern over the excessive use of gadgets among children, cautioning that overdependence on digital devices can hinder creativity, communication, and overall development. He urged parents to promote a balanced lifestyle that includes outdoor activities, reading, and meaningful interpersonal interactions.

Mrs. Saraswati Nagarajan, in her insightful speech, highlighted the crucial role of teachers in shaping not only academically capable students but also individuals grounded in strong values. She stressed the need for more educators who prioritize character building, empathy, and moral responsibility alongside academic excellence.

She also drew attention to the importance of focusing on the development of boys, noting that while girls are increasingly excelling in all spheres, boys too must be guided to become responsible and emotionally mature individuals. She emphasized that education should equip boys not only with academic knowledge but also with essential life skills, including the ability to contribute to and care for a home. She further observed that feelings of inferiority or unchecked ego can sometimes lead to difficulties in relationships and may even contribute to the breakdown of marriages. She encouraged nurturing values of respect, equality, and understanding from a young age.

With nearly 20 performances lined up, the programme unfolded beautifully. It began with a vibrant welcome dance that paid tribute to the current hero of our country in the field of cricket. The children performed with remarkable energy and grace, setting the tone for the evening.

The event showcased a variety of performances including dances, action songs, melodious singing by both children and parents, and a delightful guitar presentation. A special highlight was the graduation ceremony of the Pre-KG and Kindergarten students, marking an important milestone in their early education.

The Grade 1 students impressed the audience with their lively dance performance. The show also featured creative themes such as a superhero act, parent-child combo dances, and a heartwarming mom-and-kid performance. A graceful dance by the mothers added a special charm to the celebration.

The grand finale was truly spectacular, as the entire school came together on stage, ending the show with a high-energy performance that left the audience thrilled and proud.

The evening was a perfect blend of talent, teamwork, and celebration, truly reflecting the spirit of a school where values are instilled at an early age, making it a memorable milestone in the journey of The Pumpkin Patch School
